Well, well, well… the MA thrifters have not disappointed. You all came through with the secondhand treasure recommendations, and I can officially report back: the hype was real. I’ve checked out a few of the spots you suggested and scored some amazing finds.
First up: My Sister Closet in Stoneham. Someone mentioned their $5 / $10 / $50 off sale and OMG… it was so good. I finally got the Sambas I’ve been pining over forever but could never quite pull the trigger on. Well… trigger pulled for under $40. I also snagged some Booty by Brabants for $10 and a few Maeve pieces. It’s a curated consignment shop, but absolutely worth the stop. They have so many great pieces, plus a cabinet full of designer bags and accessories that is very fun (and slightly dangerous) to browse.
I also finally made my way to Under the Bed because it came up so many times. Honestly, even if you don’t plan to buy anything, go just to wander around, it feels like stepping into a little time machine. I had the best time. I did end up leaving with a Pendleton wool jacket that was never worn and some vintage Ralph Lauren.
I won’t bore you with every single stop I tried, but I also hit a few St. Vincent de Paul locations and wow, the prices were so cheap and the finds were solid.
Which got me thinking… I might start putting together some thrift day itineraries for different areas. Full disclosure: AI definitely helped me map out a few of my days because geography is not my strong suit. But the general vibe is usually 2–3 thrift stores, a cozy coffee or lunch break, and then if necessary (always necessary) a needlepoint shop nearby.
